S.Sh: First we had better make it clear what we wish to talk about.
DY: We want to talk about Talesh. Talesh is a region within the northern part of Gilan province, in the north of Iran, but it cannot be regarded as part of this province in terms of either ethnicity or language. The region extends from Masal (Shanderman) to Astara, although in the recent past, i.e., since the Second World War, Astara could be considered as part of Talesh. However, part of the region regarded as Talesh was located in the former Soviet Union; the people had the same features, language and way of dressing.
